What Was That?

If some well-intentioned person says to you, "If you have to evacuate because of the fires, you're welcome to come stay with us," and then follows it up with "We know you won't, but you're welcome to," does that officially negate the invitation?

No, invitation stands. I think it is because you are known to be so darn independent that you probably wouldn't go. Of course, I think it could also depend on the person that extended the invitation. hmmm... Of course, if you want to come all the way to TX, you're welcome to our place!
